Event Info
This is a performance project for Black men that aims to provide support and nurture around mental health issues that affect their lives.
We are a group of Black men who have been meeting up and working together to make community based shows around the issues of mental health, injustices and inequality since October 2019.
Before the pandemic we met regularly on a Monday evening in Brixton from 6.00pm - 9.00pm to do theatre workshops which led to a series of performances. When the different lockdowns kicked in, we started meeting every week working online in zoom to make several performances. These are available on YouTube for you watch, see links below.
Rehearsals are every Monday 6.00pm - 9.00pm at Club Mosaic in next door to a chapel (10mins walk from Station)
If you wouldn’t mind, as research between now and when we meet, perhaps you could think about your relationship to mental health as we will be using the themes of stress, anxiety and depression to create our next performance.
It might also be useful to look up the style of theatre that we will be making: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_theatre
If you have any questions about the project just let me know. Once again, looking forward in working with you and seeing you 6pm on Monday 14th June at Club Mosaic in Brixton 65 Effra Road SW2 1BZ
