The Rhythm Of Life Reggae Exhibition
Celebrating reggae music and its impact on other genres. Providing a fantastic array of music workshops hosted by international artists such as Carroll Thompson and Alan Weekes.
Visitors will get a good historical grasp of how reggae music emerged from Jamaica and evolved into the most liberating and enlightening music genre in the world – UNESCO recently recognised the positive contribution that reggae music has made and has denoted it as world heritage status.
Over five days the exhibition will showcase the history of reggae with artefacts, films, memorabilia together with vinyl records, food, book stalls, fashion stalls as well as discussions by leading artists on the importance and influence of reggae music.
Activities over 5 days
Music workshops led by Alan Noel Weeks (Aswad) and Carroll Thompson (Queen of Lovers Rock) among others.
Art Installations and Entertainment; Short film; Community radio; Dancers; Drummers
Exhibition of Reggae Music – curated on rotation by Bobo Numero Uno of Supreme FM, African Simba, Uncle-Sid, Base FM.
Stalls: Books; Caribbean Food; Caribbean Fruit; Skin & Health; Vinyl Record Fair; many more
Children Welcome: Face Painting; Bouncy Castle
Program: Music workshops will be hosted by artists and industry specialists: Alan Weekes (Aswad); BB Seaton; Carl Gentles (Keyboard, Lee Scratch Perry); Carroll Thompson; Dennis Bovell (Bass, Matumbi); Eddyman (Founder, Easy Street Studios) and Michael Fuller (Music Lawyer).
