Last year kidnapping and deportation of the Windrush generation gave us clarity about the African Caribbean community’s value within Britain. Based on this knowledge we are now moving forward and separating our interests from all those who have relied on us and benefited from our labour, ingenuity and taxation, to bolster their infrastructures. It is a time for Black people to practice self interest and demonstrate how truly powerful we really are.
The Thursday Club presents ‘The Power of Your Politics’ a must-attend event for all those who desire to use their power to advance the politics of our community towards positive advancement and equality for our children and future generations. We will be addressing the following, with actionable outcomes:
- What does it mean to be political?
- How can you (we) use your political power for our socio-economic advancement?
- Will Political Action Committees (PACs) solve our lack of political participation?
- From Brexit to Blaxit: What next?
About The Thursday Club
Founded by Dean Okai Snr and iOla C. Williams of The Solution Room (think tank), The Thursday Club exists to galvanise those of us in the African Caribbean community who desire to build, the opportunity to meet face to face. This is the new social networking, taking things right back to basics and creating real human relationships, where we can’t and won’t be blocked, silenced or censored.
At our last event, ‘Black Financial Solutions for 2019 and Beyond’ (20th December 2018), we presented essential information and resources covering personal finance, pardner, property and gold investments as practical solutions for financial advancement. Since the sold-out event, we’ve received feedback from many of us who took direct and immediate action. This is primary objective of The Thursday Club.
The Thursday Club is about progressive Black people intent on growing our socio economic standing coming together and enabling each other, through our collective intellectual capital, experience and resources to reach the same goal. This growing collective is how we will turn 2019 into a year of self determination, based on 21st century Garveyism which we’ve always been convinced not to follow.
