If you’ve never been to SCRIPTED before,
It’s best described as when, Your Favourite Poetry Night, meets an interactive Ted Talk!
Each month we invite our audience and Poets to discuss and share works on the themes raised in that month’s chosen book.
Based on Laughter, Love and Literature, SCRIPTED is best described as a modern take on the traditional book club. Fusing delicate discussions with Audience participation, Poetry & Entertainment to provide a dope-ass creative space, evoking positive, solution-driven dialogue in a fun and interactive way! Each month we focus on a different book and invite poets and musicians to share works that relate to the themes explored in the book.
& This February we have an amazing line up for you!
and Kay Bianca, our guest singer.
Stallholder: Cami, (have a look at her work here.)
Additionally, there will be a raffle on the night and we will be having food on sale.
The themes will be centered around extracts from our feature book,
‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ by James Baldwin.
If Beale Street Could Talk was written by the American writer James Baldwin. It is a love story set in Harlem in the early 1970s. The title is a reference to the 1916 W.C. Handy blues song “Beale Street Blues” name after Beale Street in Downtown Memphis, Tenessee.
