Description

The Caraf Centre presents In Conversation with  Nware Burge

Nware Burge is an independent documentary maker and African-American History teacher from Newark, New Jersey.

As we reach 400 years since the slave trade, Burge poses the question:

Should Black people change their white last names in favour of African ones?”

Join us for a screening of this documentary, DNA – Using Genealogy To Change My SLAVE  Last Name, in which he explores the idea of using DNA testing to reclaim his African name and heritage stolen during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. After the screening you will have the opportunity to discuss this topic with the brother himself.

Doors open at 7pm

Documentary will begin at 7.30, followed by a Q and A with Nware Burge
